The Belgian independent manufacturer Ressence releases a new Type 8 with a sage green dial. The new Type 8 S ”Sage Green” is a good-looking addition to their entry-level range.

Ressence is a manufacturer we in the editorial team like. We have previously written about their tough diver's watch Type 5 BB and also taken a closer look at the sibling Type 8 with a blue dial last year.

Even though we are still waiting for the arrival of spring here in Sweden, Ressence is now releasing a new dial in the Type 8 collection that makes you long even more for warmer temperatures. The Type 8 Sage Green is a strong complement to the earlier Cobalt Blue version, whose sage green dial marries really well with the case in titanium.

As we have written about previously, Ressence has a slightly different approach to reading the time. Ressence uses its patented ROCS module (Ressence Orbital Convex System) where the dial is always in motion. Any traditional hands are not found on their models but instead the two discs rotate, where the smaller one indicates hours and the larger one minutes.

The watch is very wearable despite its diameter of 42,9mm. That it lacks lugs and has a domed shape means that it sits well even on a smaller wrist. Add to that that it is relatively thin with its 11mm and with a weight of only 42 grams (with the strap) makes it an interesting experience on the wrist.

You have probably figured it out already but the reason for the light weight is that the case is made in Grade 5 titanium which in a good-looking way mixes brushed and polished surfaces. The watch is the lightest of all of Ressence's models and none of them are particularly heavy at that.

The sage green dial is also made in Grade 5 titanium and it has a matte metallic finish that we in the editorial team fell head over heels for.

Like the other watches from Ressence, the Type 8 also lacks a traditional crown. To wind and set the watch the case back is rotated one way or the other. The absence of a crown reinforces the whole streamlined expression and contributes to a very clean and pared-back design.

Inside the Type 8 ticks as usual a modfied ETA 2892-2 with the specifically developed module ROCS 8 for the model. The movement has a power reserve of 36h and the watch is water resistant down to 10m. Nothing you wear during water activities quite simply.

The price for the watch is 12,500 Swiss francs (excluding taxes and fees) and it is available from May onwards.
