TAG Heuer kicks off the new year with two chronographs and a sparkling beauty that awakens the urge to own.

LVMH Watch Week in Miami offers several lovely new releases and from TAG Heuer's side there are three new releases that we want to highlight here. We start with the two new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph which clearly show that the rich green colour is still a living hit to wear on the wrist. The Carrera has a solid history where the model made its debut as early as 1963. To begin with it was without date display, but a few years later the more unusual placement at 9 o'clock was introduced and it got the nickname "the iconic Dato layout".

The two new models have a lovely vintage-inspired look which means the watches clearly show their heritage from the original model, which is a clean-lined chronograph, not too substantial but more slimly elegant and understated. In addition they have the so-called "Glassbox" which is also taken from the predecessor and which means that the sapphire crystal is domed out towards the edge of the case. And the blue-green colour is also not not taken out of empty nothing, instead it is a tribute to racing, it was especially from 1920 to the 60s that this colour was often used.

We start with the top dog. Here they have really pushed the boat out. A sporty but still elegant chronograph in size 42 mm that contains a complication that is always just as fascinating, a tourbillon. At 6 o'clock they have placed their tourbillon which does a lot of good for the mind just by looking at it, but it also does a lot for the look of the watch which means it gets a much more exclusive style. And just like the other model this one too has a domed crystal which means you see the tourbillon in a good way. The watch has an automatic movement, caliber TH20-09, which has a power reserve of 65 hrs. Chronograph functions are shown at 3 o'clock, a 30-minute scale and at 9 o'clock a 12-hour scale is shown. Furthest out towards the case ring a minute and seconds scale is also shown. The hands for hours and minutes have Super-LumiNova and the strap is in black alligator skin. Price 284 700 kronor.

The most clean-lined of them and in the pleasant size 39mm, is the one that does not have such advanced complications as a tourbillon but is equipped with classic chronograph functions, is also the one that ties in extra much to its roots with its date display placed at 9 o'clock. The only thing there is on the dial is precisely the date display and minute display for the chronograph in a 30-minute scale. In addition, furthest out towards the edge of the case, often called the "flange", there is a seconds and minute scale. The automatic movement is caliber TH20-07 which has a power reserve of up to 80 hrs and the case is water resistant to 100 m. Super-LumiNova is found on the large hands for hour and minute. The strap is in black alligator skin and a folding clasp equipped with double locking buttons. The price is 77 550 kronor.

TAG Heuer Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d´Avant-Garde WBN2344.FC8335
The last new release from TAG Heuer is a continuation of their earlier Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d´Avant-Garde which was presented last year. The new version, just like the first, has synthetic diamonds that are produced in a laboratory and they have not spared the powder, instead the whole dial is strewn with diamond crystals that give a sparkling effect. Beyond that each index is in the form of a baguette-cut synthetic diamond with white gold around it. The top of it has a yellow synthetic diamond below 12 o'clock and beneath the Carrera logotype. The size of the watch is 36 mm with a case in white gold. What is fascinating is also that the crown is a yellow synthetic diamond of 1.3 carats. A very special watch that has an automatic movement, the TAG Heuer Caliber 7 which can also be seen through the open back. The power reserve is up to 56 hrs and the watch is water resistant to 50 m. A fitting white strap in alligator skin adorns the watch extremely well too. A very special watch and one that has many synthetic diamonds and it probably does not stop here, instead it feels like TAG Heuer has got a taste for this synthetic diamond business and where we will surely get to see several creations in the future. No price has been released for this one yet but the earlier Carrera Date 36mm Plasma Diamant d'Avant-Garde – the pink version – had a price of 90 000 CHF.
