Yet another model reinforces Jaeger-LeCoultre's model series Polaris that made its debut in 1968. Earlier this year during Watches & Wonders 2022 a Perpetual Calendar was released which I was really impressed by. Next up is this green-dialed diver and initially it looks really sharp!

Polaris is a model that Jaeger-LeCoultre has invested increasingly more in during recent years with really nice-looking watches as a result. Eqotime's Aleksandar Mladenovic reflects on the latest release.

A nice shade of green

Green is still on the agenda when it comes to the manufacturers' favorite choice of color this year. Not against me, it's my favorite color.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris is the manufacturer's sportiest watch and in recent years quite a few new models have appeared in the series. The original had an alarm function which only one model in the current collection has. You find everything from regular "three-handers" or three handers as they're called in English, to chronographs, world timers with chronograph and now also perpetual calendars. Up until now it has only been possible to buy a modern Polaris with black or blue dial but now they're jumping on the trend with green and they do it with flair.

In short we have a diver in stainless steel that measures 42mm in diameter and has a thickness of 13.92mm – no small piece. However I want to raise a finger because I was surprised how well the 42mm large case wears. I tried their Perpetual Calendar in Geneva earlier this year, and I assume this case is the same.

The case is water resistant to 200m and the crown at 2 o'clock operates the inner diving ring. The back gives an insight into the calibre 899 which is an in-house movement with 70h power reserve.

The watch comes on a matching green rubber strap with the "Quick-Switch" system which makes strap changes a joy.

The dial has a lacquered surface finish, and alternates several different finishing techniques from sunburst to a matte and slightly grainy one. It also shifts from lighter green in the center to darker green/black out towards the outer edge. I like this mix and it really contributes to the liveliness.

Summary

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris is a very nice model with a rich history behind it. The new release looks good in press photos, and we look forward to being able to take a closer look at it during the year.

The list price for the watch is 107,000kr and it is a Boutique Edition. Right now it is available on Jaeger-LeCoultre's website during the month of May as an "e-commerce exclusive" however only in 100 pieces.
