Guide: 7 attractive novelties for female wrists from Geneva Watch Days

Geneva Watch Days offered exciting novelties where the majority held a high level. It was above all super exclusive but there was also shown a simpler level of watches in a lower price class. What was above all the common thread during these days is the great passion for the art of watchmaking, Haute Horlogerie, with very advanced complications.

Actually you could say that almost all the models that were presented during Geneva Watch Days are perfect for female wrists. The line for what is a ladies' or men's watch has really been blurred out.

It was noticeable especially on one of the novelties, the Luna Magna Ultimate II from Arnold & Son, which we have written about earlier and which you can read about here. It has a look that when it comes to style and colour combined with diamonds was previously considered to be reserved for women. On top of that the lining on the strap is pink. The colour combination matched with the exclusive stones and the complicated movement made this watch stand out from the crowd. But now to what is extra fun: all the examples are sold, the model is limited to only eight pieces but and the majority of the buyers are men who love the watch.

So that is why my selection is actually not chosen for them being feminine but because they are new watch models that I personally think suit a female wrist.

Colour with a sporty look, Maurice Lacroix Aikon #Tide

It is a novelty that was presented earlier this year but it was only now we got to see them in reality. From earlier press pictures that have been shown it is like a big colour party of watches that at first felt like too much. But after having got to try the watch on the wrist I realised that they are really good. The size is 40 mm which suits the watch – because had it been in a smaller size it would not have been the same lovely feeling with the strong colours.

The plastic comes from recycled PET bottles that have been collected from the sea and that is why the model is called #Tide. That is the name of the organisation that takes care of the plastic. Brands such as Tom Ford and Hugo Boss also use their recycled plastic. Maurice Lacroix Aikon #Tide is a fun, simple watch with a quartz movement that is perfect for the person who wants to wear something colourful and hard-wearing for everyday.
Approximate price 7 000 – 8 500 kr.

More colour from Oris

Oris is a brand that gradually lifts itself all the time. During last year's Geneva Watch Days the brand presented a diver's watch, the Aquis Date, with a mottled dial that is also made from recycled PET bottles. This year Oris expands the collection with three models in the size 36,5 mm with different colours for the dial in mother-of-pearl. The idea is that the surface should be reminiscent of the glittering surface of the sea. The combination of mirror-polished and brushed steel with the colours blue, green and pink makes it a versatile watch that suits most occasions. My absolute favourite is of course the pale pink one that is called Blush Pink. There is something special about steel combined with light pink. An automatic movement in the case and a price of 24,800 kronor make it accessible to many.

For the person looking for something completely different

It is extra fun when watch brands dare to go their own way and create something entirely their own. A brand that stands out from the crowd is Urwerk. It makes watches that really suit the person who yearns for something that not everybody else has and that on top of that is anything but traditional in appearance.

Urwerk's model that was presented, the UR-100V, is a model that has existed before but with a new colour named Ultraviolet. So the case is in purple and with it there is a white rubber strap. That makes this watch incredibly gorgeous. It is big but that is also is the whole point of their space-inspired watches. Nothing for the shy one or the one who wants an easy-to-read watch because it takes a little while to work out how you read off the time. But that is also what is the charm of this type of watch, non-traditional! An automatic movement and the price is 55 000 CHF.

Classically beautiful

As always with Bvlgari it is extremely elegant and precisely the model Serpenti Seduttori is so classically beautiful and suits the one looking for something iconic with a twist. Now the model exists in glossy black with or without diamonds on the case ring. Precisely the combination of black and rose gold is something quite special and the combination has existed before with a longer bracelet that goes twice around the wrist but now it exists with a "normal" bracelet that makes it more clean-lined. A quartz movement in both.

Clean-lined with diamonds

A watch in a rectangular shape is never wrong and among the novelties at Frederique Constant there was this extremely elegant model that is called Classics Art Déco Carrée. A black strap in leather with a case in steel and a dial with mother of pearl topped with diamonds on the case ring. Super safe and stylish! On top of that the crown has a blue cabochon stone. The model has a quartz movement and the case is in the size 28 x 20,70 mm. The price is 26 795 kronor.

Diamonds and several straps

The size of 30 mm in diameter with diamonds on the case ring makes this watch delightfully feminine. In total there are 64 diamonds and the dial is in mother-of-pearl. It is very classically beautiful, exists with a case in gold or white gold. The Breguet Classique 8068 has despite its small size an automatic movement and in order to be able to vary it is delivered with three straps. One in black satin and two straps in alligator skin. Blue and pink for the watch in gold and blue as well as purple for the watch in white gold.

Passion for the craft

If you want to wear a work of art on the wrist, Beauregard is a brand you really should look at if you love the finest within the art of jewellery and want something not everybody (yet) knows about. A lot is about the mechanical heart of a watch but it is also the outside that is important. Where you can find your own touche for what you want to wear. This brand has specialised within this area and works with gemstones.

Lili Bouton, as the watch model is called, has a case in rose gold with extremely advanced stone setting on the dial which is handmade. Sky Blue Topaz is the beautiful stone that has been used. The case ring as well as the dial also have diamonds. Advanced stone setting, as this craft is called, gives a picture of outstandingly beautiful Haute Joaillerie work. The model has a quartz movement and in order to keep it as clean-lined as possible it has no crown, instead the time is set on the back of the case (33 mm) via a little button. The stones are cut in Beauregard's own atelier in Montreal, Canada. The watches are incredibly beautiful and this is a brand we will get to see more of. Today production is only at 40 watches per year but they are aiming to be able to produce 60-80 watches during next year.
