Eqotime meets Matthias Breschan, CEO of Longines

Eqotime's Mia Litström talked with Longines CEO during the world launch of the new Mini DolceVita in New York.

In one of the skyscrapers on Manhattan I met Matthias Breschan where I got the chance to hear his thoughts about what it is like to take over such a large well established watch company as Longines. During the interview we also talk about how it comes that the company is doing so well and what their strengths are. The launch of the Mini DolceVita is also a very important launch for Longines and they are proud to be able to say that they sell as much to men as to women. There is no other watch company that has managed to do that. Now they are moreover taking a further step with a new model of the DolceVita which is a smaller model and even more feminine in its style than before, which also offers wonderfully much colour combined with diamonds. The model was launched for the first time in 1997 and has been a success ever since. The rectangular shape of the case which is a signature of the DolceVita has a solid history at Longines. During the early 1900s the shape began to be used on their watches but it took a while before the design became popular, but the shape peaked during the 20s. In 1927 in particular they produced a model with a rectangular shape which is the model that is the basis and the inspiration for all of the DolceVita models. Longines has a solid design heritage that can be experienced in their museum, which Matthias speaks warmly about.
