The Timeline: News from Hublot, Girard-Perregaux, Cartier & Jaeger-LeCoultre

Autumn is here and that does not only mean heavier jackets and new boots – it is also time to take the temperature of some of the hottest launches right now. In this edition of The Timeline we cast an eye over a colourful collaboration between Hublot and Daniel Arsham, an anniversary from Girard-Perregaux, an unexpected stealth move from Cartier and a new technical masterpiece from Jaeger-LeCoultre. Hublot MP-17 Arsham Droplet

It is hard not to react to Hublot's latest creation – the MP-17 Arsham Droplet is a collaboration with the artist Daniel Arsham that takes shape to a completely new level. Literally. Here we are talking organic forms inspired by water, science fiction and Hublot's own MP series. The watch is made in a titanium skeleton and sapphire and looks more like a wearable work of art than anything else.
Under the hood sits a hand-wound movement with 10 days of power reserve and the spherical case (52,6 x 62,7 mm) is not for everyone – but for those who dare this is a statement of the future in pure Arsham spirit. Limited to: 99 examples.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato 50th Anniversary

2025 marks 50 years since the Laureato first saw the light of day and Girard-Perregaux celebrates with an anniversary model that balances history and innovation. The new Laureato 50th Anniversary Edition is the first model to be driven by the new in-house movement GP 4800, a thinner calibre with 54 hours of power reserve and a modern finish. The design sticks to what we like about the Laureato: octagonal bezel, integrated bracelet and thin profile. But the details – like the pointed indexes and the guilloché-patterned pattern in the dial – make this version feel both new and nostalgic at the same time.

Cartier Santos in titanium

Cartier continues to broaden its Santos collection with a new version in brushed titanium – a material that is both lighter and more resistant than steel, and that at the same time gives a more tool watch-like expression. This is the Santos de Cartier LM Full Titanium, with a black dial, luminised hands and the same iconic shape as always. On the wrist it feels surprisingly discreet but with character – perfect for those who like Cartier but want to tone down the polished expression. There is also a version in steel with a black dial and even more contrast. Both come with Cartier's quick strap-change system – something we at the editorial office always appreciate.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948

Jaeger-LeCoultre once again shows why they are masters of haute horlogerie. Their new Master Grande Tradition with Calibre 948 is not only beautiful, it is also technically advanced with a flying tourbillon and a world time complication that literally moves across the dial.
The world map in enamel and gold floats above a dial that rotates over 24 hours. The tourbillon also circulates and symbolises the rotation of the earth. It is art, geography and micromechanics in perfect harmony and a masterpiece for collectors with a taste for the really nerdy.
