Sjöö Sandström celebrates 100 years of the Swedish Air Force with Annual Edition 2026

Sjöö Sandström presents this year's Annual Edition – and this time there is a clear connection to Swedish aviation history. Annual Edition 2026 is based on the Royal Steel Worldtimer and marks the Swedish Air Force turning 100. The edition is limited to only 86 examples.

Sjöö Sandström Annual Edition 2026

The Swedish watch brand Sjöö Sandström has for many years had a close relationship with the Swedish Air Force. Since 2011 the company has been an official supplier and its watches have become a recurring feature within Swedish military aviation.

Now that the Swedish Air Force is celebrating its 100th anniversary, it is therefore precisely this relationship that is at the centre of Sjöö Sandström's Annual Edition 2026.

At the same time the anniversary coincides with yet another milestone. Sjöö Sandström was founded in Stockholm in 1986 and thereby celebrates 40 years during 2026.

Royal Steel Worldtimer with a clear Air Force connection

The base for the anniversary model is the Royal Steel Worldtimer, but several details have been developed specifically for the Annual Edition.

The dark dial is combined with large Arabic numerals and blue details in the minute scale. The text FLYGVAPNET is also executed in blue.

The perhaps clearest detail, on the other hand, is found at six o'clock. Here sit three gold-coloured fighter aircraft applied directly onto the dial – a detail that immediately sets the anniversary model apart from the regular Royal Steel Worldtimer.

The watch's GMT function is marked by the characteristic extra hand with a blue and white triangular tip, which is read against the 24-hour scale on the bezel.

The Air Force's 100th anniversary on the case back

The theme continues on the back as well.

The case back has been given a special engraving with the Swedish Air Force's official symbol for the 100th anniversary and the years 1926–2026. Around the engraving is the text “Sjöö Sandström Tribute to the Swedish Air Force Annual Edition 2026” together with the model's numbering.

Sjöö Sandström describes the model as a way of uniting two important parts of the company's history – its own 40th anniversary and the long-standing relationship with the Swedish Air Force.

”The Swedish Air Force has been a part of our history since 2011, and it therefore feels especially meaningful to be able to celebrate its 100th anniversary through this year's Annual Edition. Since Sjöö Sandström is at the same time celebrating its 40 years, this watch unites two important milestones and a shared passion for precision, engineering and craftsmanship.”

Only 86 examples

Annual Edition 2026 is produced in a strictly limited edition of 86 examples.

The number is hardly random. It is a direct reference to 1986, the year Sjöö Sandström was founded in Stockholm.

The result is one of the year's more outspokenly Swedish watch launches – where the brand's own history meets a hundred years of Swedish military aviation in a model that will only be made in a handful of examples.
