Seiko in collaboration with Rowing Blazers
We like the way Seiko has developed in recent years. As we have reported earlier here at Eqotime, the collections have started to get really sharp, with both limited versions and a really pleasant core collection. For the American market they have just launched a nice set of Seiko 5 in a special edition together with the clothing company Rowing Blazers. Everything sold out immediately, of course. But that does not stop us from taking a closer look at the preppy-inspired special versions of Seiko’s entry-level line.
We like the development at Seiko over the last few years. As we have reported earlier here on Eqotime the collections have started to get really sharp with both limited versions and a really nice base collection. For the American market they have just launched a nice set of Seiko 5 in a special execution together with the clothing company Rowing Blazers. Everything of course sold out immediately. But that does not stop us from taking a closer look at the preppy-inspired special versions of Seiko's entry-level line.
American Rowing Blazers have specialised in updated garments and collections sprung from the American preppy and ivy league tradition. Over the years they have collaborated with several classic clothing and shoe manufacturers such as Sperry, UMBRO and FILA. Besides the clothing collections, nato straps and vintage watches have also been part of the range in Rowing Blazers' webshop. And now they have then launched a series of Seiko 5 together with Seiko USA. A really fun initiative with a nice end result with a series of unique watches that (of course) sold out immediately.

The watches, which came in three versions, were reasonably priced at just over 5000SEK and came in a special box with both a bracelet and a fresh nato strap. Besides at Rowing Blazers themselves the watches were also sold at Hodinkee and at Seiko USA. As expected they sold out fairly promptly and whether any ended up in Sweden is at present unclear. The editorial team made an attempt but were unfortunately late on the ball and came away empty-handed.

At Eqotime we think that this type of collaboration is fun, both because the watches felt fresh and above all accessible price-wise. But also because Rowing Blazers feels like a lively brand with just the right amount of cred to release a summery preppy collection of nice Seiko 5.
