Seiko event with Klockmaster Globen, report and picture bonanza!

Loads of long-awaited novelties, corona-safe watch hanging and a minor confidentiality scandal. The Seiko Prospex event in Stockholm in June had something for everyone. Eqotime's Ola Jacobsen was on site for a bit of Seiko Prospex Speed Dating!

When Klockmaster Globen and Fältöversten invited to a Seiko Prospex event it went like a collective shiver through the ranks. After a spring of cancelled watch fairs, no socialising with other watch enthusiasts and above all no local watch events we were truly starved. In combination with an unusually large number of really good releases from Seiko's Professional Specification section this had all the conditions for a really good evening.

By making use of a restaurant's corona-safe processes with individual tables and strategically placed hand sanitiser, Klockmaster Globen and Fältöversten had found a way to show the watches to some 50 invited people.

The event was called Seiko Prospex Speed Dating and the watches were thus presented at 13 tables for two.

Above all it was a bunch of really successful reissues of beloved vintage Seikos that drew the attention. That goes both for the 1965 Diver's Modern Re-Interpretation Seiko Prospex SPB143, SPB147 and SPB149 LE as well as the ’70s Diver Contemporary Interpretation Seiko Prospex ”Captain Willard” Reissues SPB151 and SPB153.

The limited historical trio that honours Seiko's 55th anniversary for diver's watches was also shown. A collection of classic reissues with blue dials for between 52 950 and 79 950 kronor.

Because of some sort of misunderstanding the distributor also happened to show a bunch of watches that are not officially launched yet, after which a low-key hunt began where the participants were politely asked to unpublish all pictures and posts on social media that flowed freely from the event in a steady stream.

Several novelties from Grand Seiko were also shown. Here there was among other things a substantial diver (Grand Seiko SLGA001) with the new spring drive movement with five days of power reserve.

The Grand Seiko SBGJ237 was also on site with the crystal ring crammed full of luminous compound.

Eqotime extends a big thank you to Klockmaster Globen and Fältöversten for finding a way to show all the novelties to us watch nerds.

If you are keen to hear interviews from the event we recommend a listen through of Urbildningsradion's event episode which you find here!
