Russia can do it. Raketa releases a re-edition of the Soviet model Raketa Polar watch

We talk too little about Russian or, even better, old Soviet wristwatches. So, on topic, the old Russian manufacturer Raketa is launching an anniversary re-edition of the old Soviet model Raketa Polar watch.

This year it was 200 years since the Antarctic continent began to be properly explored and 50 years since Raketa released the Polar watch model. To celebrate this, Raketa is now launching a re-edition of the model. As the basis for the model they have used the same old drawings that were used for the Soviet original model. The model, which measures in at 35 mm case size, has a manual movement with 24-hour display and the release is limited to 200 examples. Pre-orders can be made directly on Raketa's website with deliveries starting in the middle of March.

Say what you will about old Russian and Soviet wristwatches, but cool they are. The quality can be variable, something that anyone who has ever owned an old Vostok is familiar with. But there is usually nothing wrong with the ruggedness. The Raketa Polar watch also seems to be really well built and with a certain style in the design. That it also has a 24-hour display and feels genuinely limited makes us at Eqotime give it a thumbs up. Well worth checking out!
