Pimped Royal Steel from Sjöö Sandström
It is not only from the coming Watches & Wonders that news is pouring in from the manufacturers. There really is something in the air. And you can tell it is high season for launches. The Swedish manufacturer Sjöö Sandström is also taking the opportunity to present something new. And this time they stick their neck out with a pimped version of their classic model Royal Steel. Eqotime has of course taken a quick look at the diamond-studded release.
It is not only from the coming Watches & Wonders that news is pouring in from the manufacturers. It vibrates in really the air. And you can tell that it is high season for launches. The Swedish manufacturer Sjöö Sandström is also taking the opportunity to present something new. And this time they are sticking their neck out with a pimped version of their classic model Royal Steel. Eqotime has of course taken a quick look at the diamond-strewn novelty.
Royal Steel Classic has been a fixture in Sjöö Sandström's collection since 1993. In recent years they have been generous about updating the model with several different versions and colours. Now they take another step forward and release a diamond-strewn bezel for the 36 mm version. Nicely pimped we think here at the editorial office.

58 diamonds
The execution with diamond bezel will be available for all dial colours and the diamonds consist of 58 pcs full cut in 0.9ct. The effect turns out really pleasing, we think. Even though we think the glittery bezel marries best with the variants that have been fitted with a mother of pearl dial. But the blue or black versions of nothing to sneeze at either. The model is pleasing from the start and the diamonds send it up a couple of notches if you like bling. A plus in the margin too for the fact that the ring can be bought separately for those who already own a Royal Steel Classic 36mm and want to pimp it up with a bit of everyday elegance.

But if it tastes good it costs, of course. The version with diamonds has a list price of 55 600 SEK so it is a considerable step up from the base model. But if you want to look good you have to suffer for it and it feels like this could be a nice and luxurious summer watch.

Regardless, there is always a sense that a manufacturer is on form when there is bling in the offing and we love it when Swedish manufacturers go for it. Now we are only hoping and waiting for a hotly awaited relaunch of the Landsort. That if anything would be a fine candidate for the title Summer Watch of the Year 2021.
