Electric car that stirs emotions, Mercedes EQS 53 AMG
You associate the brand with hugely lovely, loud and powerful petrol engines that make anyone go weak at the knees and shiver with joy. But even the sports car manufacturers have had to think electric and the whole car industry has really taken on the task of electrifying its coming models. Now Mercedes-AMG proudly shows off its first electric car and the name is EQS 53 AMG 4MATIC+. Eqotime's Mia Litström has taken a closer look at Mercedes' new addition.

You associate the brand with magnificently wonderful, loud and powerful petrol engines that make anyone go weak at the knees and shiver with joy. But even the sports car manufacturers have had to think electric and the entire car industry has really taken it upon itself to electrify their upcoming models. Now Mercedes-AMG proudly shows off its first electric car and the name is EQS 53 AMG 4MATIC+. Eqotime's Mia Litström has taken a closer look at Mercedes' electric new addition.
Mercedes-AMG delivers cars that stir emotions because they are always tremendously powerful with wonderfully sharp sportiness. Can such a brand produce an electric car that stirs the same sports car feelings? When Porsche flagged that their first fully electric model was on its way, there were many who were very skeptical but Porsche disproved this. Taycan became a success. Now it's time for Mercedes-AMG but the skepticism is not as high as before since Porsche succeeded so well with the Taycan. Mercedes-AMG will also certainly manage to succeed with this. Because these are dizzying figures being presented. EQS is a sedan that is very elegant in a large size but that can still do 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
The battery capacity is 107.8 kWh and with a full charge it gives a range of 58 mil. When fast charging it can handle power up to 200 kW and with a charging box up to 22 kW. It is four-wheel drive and the base version delivers 658 hk with a torque of 950 Nm. The top version equipped with the AMG Dynamic Plus package has a maximum power of a full 761 hk in the mode called race start which has a boost function where the maximum torque is also raised to 1020 Nm.
Producing an electric Mercedes-AMG is not really something that changes the brand.
– All our cars should deliver in accordance with AMG's brand promise, says Jochen Hermann who is technical director at Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Both when it comes to drivetrain, brakes, suspension and above all sound.
Dynamic specifications
The sound that is emitted depends on which driving program is activated and it is created by a special sound generator and speaker. The interior is also exactly what you'd expect from the brand, luxuriously digital, the special and typical interior lighting is of course also there.
A sports car like this also needs fantastically good brakes. Just as you want to experience the magical acceleration feeling you also want to have the best braking effect. For that there are 21- or 22-inch rims. Discs of 415 mm with six-piston calipers at the front and 378 mm discs at the rear. For those who want the very ultimate it is of course possible to order ceramic brakes where the front discs are 440 mm.
