Hands-on: Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up

It was barely a week ago that the fashion house Louis Vuitton launched its latest connected watch model, the Tambour Horizon Light Up. It quickly became an editorial favourite at Eqotime and we immediately booked a proper photo shoot and quick test for our photographer Staffan Danielsson. It was barely a week ago that the fashion house Louis Vuitton launched their latest connected watch model Tambour Horizon Light Up. It quickly became an editorial favourite at Eqotime and we immediately booked in a proper photoshoot and quick test for our photographer Staffan Danielsson. It turned into an inspired photo session and quick test of a smart watch that awoke a lasting desire to own it.

It was thus no more than a week ago that LV presented their updated, third generation connected watch. Apart from the pleasant design and truly delicious display that almost looks like it runs out over the edges, it contains quite a bit of other candy. Among other things a completely self-developed operating system that works really well. At a first glance and quick test all the functions feel really well thought out and intuitive.

Overall it feels really well built and not at all "plasticky" or flimsy as some smartwatches can sometimes feel. Here it feels, on the contrary, solid and substantial. The size is also really good. It's not a small watch but the relatively thin design with a display that sort of flows out over the edges contributes to it feeling slim on the wrist.

The screen is really nice and surprisingly responsive without being overly sensitive. Above all it's the many design settings that appeal during a quick test and there is a lot to choose from here. The promised design collaborations with new dials look promising. Because we won't hide the fact that it might be the design and styling that appeals the most, even though it impresses purely technically.

The strap in rubber is really nice and has a really pleasant clasp. On the wrist it sits really well, both on guys and girls.

The version we tested had the matte black case. Besides this, the Tambour Horizon Light Up also comes in a glossy polished version and in a brown version that we think seems really promising. The editorial team thinks this is a really successful model. Sure, if you're after a high-performance watch with a focus on technology there are better choices in various price ranges. But as a delicious and high-quality design product from one of the world's strongest fashion houses it doesn't disappoint anyone. As said, it awakens a desire to own it…
