Spring and autumn it is full speed with interesting watch auctions in Sweden and around the world. On 18 May Kaplans Important Watches is hammered in Stockholm. As usual Kaplans has a very good catalogue with many interesting objects. We have picked out 7 favourites that we will follow with excitement.
The viewing runs between 15 and 17 May at Kaplans Auktioner on Biblioteksgatan in Stockholm. In total the catalogue contains 131 watches.

Auction number 2 – Cartier Pasha ref. 820903
One of the cockiest watches from Cartier which has long been underrated. Here in the most imposing execution: solid gold case with matching bracelet. For those of you who have seen the Sopranos the watch may feel familiar. The character Christopher Moltisanti wears a similar Pasha on a bracelet (though with the grille). Nothing for the person who wants to fly under the radar quite simply.
In our eyes a perfect summer watch with a lot of attitude.

The estimate is 66 000 kr and you can read more about the object here
Auction number 6 – Rolex Submariner ref. 16618
We stay in the department ”watches with attitude” and take a closer look at this Rolex Submariner in 18k gold. There is something that tickles a little extra with a so-called ”tool watch” as this diver's watch is, in gold. Add a few diamonds and sapphires for extra spice. The undersigned is a little partial that this one ended up on the list since he owned one just over 10 years ago.

The estimate is 185 000 kronor and you can read more about the object here
Auction number 25 – Patek Philippe World Time ref. 5110G
World Timers is one of the editorial team's absolute favourite complications. Practical, complicated and aesthetically appealing. Of course we include the forefather of World Timers, Patek Philippe, when there is one in the catalogue.
Good size, well worked dial, automatic movement with micro-rotor and case in 18k white gold. Discreet luxury.

The estimate is set at 240 000kr – more about the object here.
Auction number 39 – Rolex Cellini ”King Midas” ref. 4017
King Midas is the name of a couple of models from the Cellini family at Rolex. Long very overlooked but there it has started to change. Reference 4017 is fitted with a leather strap instead of a bracelet which they were manufactured with originally, but it was expensive and flashy and demand has grown for these over the years.
This is very much 70s and what was once scoffed at as an ugly ”old man's watch” is today hot among many collectors and dealers around the world. It is absolutely not for everyone, but we love it.

The estimate is 37 000 kronor and more info about the watch here.
Auction number 85 – Omega Constellation ”Manhattan” ref. BA 396.1070
We return to solid gold. This time in the form of a super thin and exotic Omega Constellation ”Manhattan” with a dial in the stone lapis lazuli. This is unusual to find, above all with a dial in this condition. Stone dials are often very delicate and it easily happens that these are damaged during service etc. That is not the case with this example where the dial is whole and clean and very beautiful.
A classic model from Omega with an exotic twist. Hard not to like or to have among our favourites for that matter.

The estimate is set at 92 000 kronor and here you find more information about the watch.
Auction number 75 – Daniel Roth Master Chronograph Skeleton ref. 447.X.60
An unusual and really cool chronograph from Daniel Roth. A brand that has had a big upswing among collectors in recent years and you may remember the chronograph from Kaplans' auction in spring 2022. Here we again have a chronograph, but this time in white gold with skeletonised dial.
The chronograph movement is based on a Lemania movement with fine finish. It will be exciting to follow this one at the auction.

The estimate for the watch is 82 000 kronor, there are already bids above this so it will be fun to see where it lands. More information you find here.
Auction number 125 – Omega Speedmaster ”Moon to Mars” ref. 3577.50.00
A special one of Omega's Speedmaster where the chronograph's registers and the sub-second represent the earth, the moon and mars. A classic Speedmaster with a small twist for anyone looking for something a little more exotic.

The estimate is set at 59 000 kronor and you can read more about the watch here.
Preview of the objects starts at Kaplans on 15 May and runs until 17 May. More information about opening hours you find here.
For those of you who are going to bid at the auction we wish you good luck and we thank Kaplans Auktioner once again for a pleasant collaboration and as usual a good job with the catalogue.
