On 15 April it is once again time for Bukowskis to hold the Important Timepieces auction, this time with catalogue number 663. On 15 April it is once again time for Bukowskis to hold the auction Important Timepieces, this time with catalogue number 663. As usual there is plenty of eye candy for the watch enthusiast – and we at Eqotime have picked out eight favourites from the catalogue that we think deserve a little extra attention.
The viewing runs between 9 and 14 April at Bukowskis at Berzelii Park 1, Stockholm and in total the catalogue contains 122 lots.

Auction number 31 – Vacheron Constantin Guilloché Dial ref. 4073
Who says no to a piece of classic Vacheron? The guilloché-engraved dial in combination with a steel case from the 1950s makes this an underrated lot with high ”dress appeal”. The open minute ring, the spear-shaped hands and the size (34 mm) mean that this vintage gem lands right even in 2024 – perfect for anyone looking for something elegant but rare.
Auction number 31 has an estimate of 40 – 60 000 kronor.

Auction number 32 – Rolex Day-Date “Diamond String Dial” ref. 18338
A Day-Date in yellow gold with a dial that makes us stop. The so-called ”Diamond String Dial” with many diamonds is not something you are not something you run into every day – and even if it is perhaps not the most discreet Rolex, it is a clear statement piece. Reference 18338 is a classic, but the dial means this example ends up in a league of its own.
Auction number 32 has an estimate of 160 – 180 000 kronor.

Auction number 42 – Piaget Polo Square ref. 7137
A watch that screams 1980s in the best way. The rectangular Piaget Polo is both glamorous and distinct, but at the same time wearable thanks to its integrated bracelet and quartz movement. This model has had a boost in recent years, and this example in gold is a good example of why – it manages the feat of being both extravagant and relaxed.
Auction number 42 has an estimate of 70 – 90 000 kronor.

Auction number 81 – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo 5402SA
When an early Royal Oak ref. 5402 turns up it is always interesting. This ”Jumbo” is from the B series (the second production series) and has everything you want – thin case, integrated bracelet and the iconic tapisserie dial. A prime example of Gérald Genta's design genius and an obvious choice for every serious collector.
Auction number 81 has an estimate of 350 – 550 000 kronor.

Auction number 85 – Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800
Another Genta classic – this time in the form of a Nautilus 3800, with a dial that has begun to age towards an emerald green tone. A model that in recent years has completely exploded in popularity. This example looks fresh, with a beautiful patina on the dial. For many this is the definition of a ”grail watch”, and we understand why.
Auction number 85 has an estimate of 270 – 320 000 kronor.

Auction number 95 – Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 19019
The Oysterquartz has long been something of an ”underdog” in the Rolex family – but interest has increased sharply in recent years. Here we get the golden Day-Date version with the characteristic angular case and integrated bracelet. An odd bird, but a damned cool one. Above all in white gold.
Auction number 95 has an estimate of 170 – 220 000 kronor.

Auction number 96 – Daniel Roth, Perpetual Calendar, ”Philippe Dufour”, ”Numero 0000 JT”
Here we are talking horologically heavy names. A perpetual calendar from Daniel Roth, with Philippe Dufour involved in the production, and the marking ”0000” – it does not get much more nerd porn than that. The typical double oval case, the symmetrical layout and the history behind it make this one of the most interesting lots in the whole auction.
Auction number 96 has an estimate of 250 – 450 000 kronor.

Auction number 112 – Cartier Panthère Diamond Set Moon Phase
Finally a piece of jewellery of a watch. The Cartier Panthère is perhaps best known as a ladies' model – but this variant with a moon phase complication and diamonds could very well be worn by anyone with a taste for elegant design. With its slim case, Roman numerals and classic Cartier signature it offers everything you want in a small but luxurious Cartier. Which is very unusual.
Auction number 96 has an estimate of 80 – 90 000 kronor.

We are looking forward to the auction on 15 April starting at 17 o'clock and the catalogue offers plenty of fine watches beyond our 8 favourites.
For those of you who are going to bid we wish you good luck and a big thank you to Bukowskis for yet another pleasant collaboration.
