In Skellefteå, more precisely at Trädgårdsgatan 8 you will find Burmans Ur & Guld. Founded in 1927, the store has a long history as a family business and is today a modern store with a well-stocked range of watches and jewellery.
In recent years the store has also taken the step into the vintage market. At Burmans you nowadays find for example a separate section of watches from brands such as Rolex, Omega and Breitling, but also well-chosen vintage jewellery.

A store with a long history
The history of Burmans Ur & Guld begins in 1927. The company from Umeå with the name AB Oscar Burman Ur & Optik expanded its business with a branch in Skellefteå which was run until 1946 when Bengt Burman took over the company.
In 1960 the store moved to new premises at Trädgårdsgatan 8, and the store has been there ever since.
In 1986 the company was bought up by Roger Backlund, and now Burmans Ur & Guld is a family business owned by the Backlund family where Joakim Backlund is CEO.
In 1988 the store also began to sell jewellery and it was then that the company changed its name to Burmans Ur & Guld. The year after, Elenor Remmets also started as a goldsmith in the store.
The store is part of the well-known chain Stjärnurmakarna.
New and vintage
The store of course does not only sell pre-owned, but is basically an authorised retailer for several brands. Among others editorial favourites such as the Swedish Sjöö Sandström, but also steady Swiss ones like Certina and Victorinox. The store has its own watchmaker and takes in both warranty matters and ordinary service matters and of course the classic but important battery change.
Well-chosen jewellery
At the end of the 80s Burmans began to sell jewellery, and shortly after they also employed a dedicated goldsmith. Since then a lot has happened, and the store now has a wide range of jewellery from well-known brands like Engelbert and Georg Jensen. A newer and fun venture is on vintage jewellery, like the market for wristwatches the interest in unique jewellery has increased considerably and there Burmans is involved and finds fun and interesting jewellery that is no longer made.
Pre-Owned
The store has a focused section for pre-owned. The focus has been on Rolex which is a very popular brand on the second-hand market, but with Burmans' competence and overview you find everything from newer watches back to genuine vintage such as Omega from the 60s and everything in between. Since the store as mentioned has a watchmaker you can count on the watches that are for sale being gone through and checked.
Burmans has in a short time got home an impressive range and is always looking for new premium wristwatches to buy in. Here are a few examples from the last year.
With Joakim at the front, who is Burmans' watch expert, more unusual vintage also comes in regularly, one example of this is this Omega Constellation with accessories so that it is more than enough, something that is unusual for older wristwatches. The watch was sold by Burmans in 1961.
