Swatch Group announced today (18 June) that they are carrying out several changes in their Executive Group Management Board as well as in the management of Longines, Rado, Union, Tissot, Certina and Hamilton.
After 51 years within the group Walter von Känel goes into well deserved retirement. He becomes honorary chairman of Longines and continues as chairman of the Longines Foundation. Walter’s strong personality, commitment to the brand and close friendship with Nick Hayek senior have forever given him a special place in Swatch Group’s organisation.

Now Matthias Breschan, today head of Rado and member of the extended group management, will take over as CEO of Longines, which in turn means that Adrian Bosshard, today CEO of Certina and Union, takes over as head of Rado.

Raynald Aeschlimann, CEO of Omega and member of the Extended Group Management Board, will now also be included as a member of the Executive Group Management Board in an extended group management.

Tissot’s long time strong man, François Thiébaud, becomes chairman of the board for the brand and Sylvain Dolla, today responsible for Hamilton, takes over as CEO and will also be part of the group management. As Hamilton’s new CEO the sales manager Vivian Stauffer has been appointed.
Certina will be led by Marc Aellen who comes from Jaquet Droz and finally Franz Linderwill, besides being CEO of Mido, take over the management of Union.
We note straight away that all recruitment is internal and are told that the new positions are to be taken up on the first of July.
