Geneva Watch Days really is happening! GWD will, as it seems, be the Swiss' only watch event for several brands under the same roof in 2020. The initiative was launched in March on the initiative of Bvlgari with an execution planned for 26-29 August with the support of the city of Geneva. The organisation informs through a press release this morning (the 28th of May) that the event will be carried out as planned. The event takes place at a number of hotels in the city centre as well as in shops with watchmaking workshops at participating brands. A joint ”reception” is to be set up at the Four Seasons Hotel Quai de Bergues as an extra service for press and retailers.
The participating brands have completely different profiles, the main group today consists of Bvlgari, Breitling, De Bethune, Gerald Genta, Girard-Perregaux, H. Moser & Cie, MB&F, Ulysse Nardin and Urwerk and associated are HYT, Louis Monet and Maurice Lacroix.

Over four days they will present their new models to media and retailers and from the organisation's side they report that there are several manufacturers who have expressed interest in being able to take part in the event. That is perhaps not so strange since Baselworld went up in smoke and many smaller independent brands as a result of this have no forum for presentation.

The following watchwords are being worked by – decentralisation, agility, cooperation, conviviality and financial sense – in order to be able to make the event as efficient and attractive as possible. The thrift idea in particular may be attractive for the smaller brands who perhaps in these new times get to share in the fact that we work together and together we are strong.
GWW also says in big letters that everything will be organised in accordance with the health measures defined by the Confederation and Canton of Geneva.
