Geneva Watch Days 2025 once again showed how new releases are delivered with both tradition and fresh thinking. Being on site during Geneva Watch Days is something completely different from the larger, more grandiose fairs. Here the mood is relaxed and inviting, with meetings in suites, hotel rooms and salons rather than in gigantic booths. The personal format means you get close to the brands, get to meet founders, creators and watchmakers at eye level and can talk watches in peace and quiet, without stress or queues. It is quite simply a very pleasant experience, especially for anyone who wants to understand brands' strategy and thinking. Here comes the first report from the days in Genéve where we focus on three brands.

Frederique Constant – Accessible luxury with heart

Frederique Constant once again confirms its role as an underdog in making quality watches accessible to more people. At Geneva Watch Days they launched three new variants of their Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture, two of them in steel with a blue and a silver-coloured dial respectively and one exclusive 18 carat gold special with a black onyx dial, limited to only 37 pieces. Under the hood sits the manufacture movement FC‑776, upgraded with an impressive 72 hours of power reserve, up from 38 hours previously.

These models combine great mechanics with classic elegance. The versions in steel offer an elegant and contemporary expression, while the variant in 18k yellow gold with an onyx dial is characterised by a dramatic contrast and exclusivity. All of this, and still at relatively favourable prices: steel models from around CHF 9 995, the gold version costs closer to three times that. For anyone looking for a complication with style and soul, without burning too much money, Frederique Constant delivers once again with an appealing blend of craft and accessibility.

Berneron – with vision and integrity

Berneron, the young indie brand from Neuchâtel, continues to fascinate. After having made its mark with its asymmetrical Mirage, Sylvain Berneron's brand now presents the Quantième Annuel. The watch has a classic round design at 38 mm in diameter and 10 mm thick, with elegant curves and a case construction called “Steel Layer”, a combination where 85 % is solid platinum and protective parts in 904L steel can be replaced when needed. The dials come in black with silver details or silver with blue touches, and the build carries a deep layer of craft in the form of a valid layout and choice of materials.

The display itself is well thought through: the time is read vertically, while the calendar, day, date, month, is read horizontally, Caliber 595 is hand-wound, made in 18K gold, with two barrels and designed for an extra user-friendly adjustment: time and date via the crown, day and month via discreet pushers, and a built-in safety system that jumps the date to the next valid one when an error is shown.

With a powerful 100-hour power reserve and10 years of production at only 24 pieces per year, this watch is a statement in both vision and exclusivity. The pricing of the watches sits at CHF 120 000. That Berneron is going big already in its second release, with technical sensitivity and a transparent business model, is nothing less than proof of courage and integrity.

Trilobe – Time in motion, and now in sporty guise

Seven years ago Trilobe was born with its poetic and moving display: the time is indicated with rotating rings that move, an exciting concept. At this year's Geneva Watch Days Trilobe launched its new sporty big bet: the Trente‑Deux. The new models in steel come with a blue or grey sunray dial and keep the characteristic three rotating discs for hours, minutes and seconds, indicated by stationary treflora pointers. The watch is 39,5 mm in diameter, thin (10,15 mm) and presents an integrated steel link with brushed and polished surfaces plus a fluted crystal ring and elegant detail work. The key highlight: the Trente‑Deux is the first model with Trilobe's own manufacture movement X‑Nihilo, fully developed and assembled in Paris. The movement has an open construction and a power reserve of 42 hours. The finishes are as impressive as the execution: "satin, black polishing", gold-treated components and a mirroring movement that plays with depth. This launch feels as poetic as it is technically impressive, a sporty trilogy of aesthetics, innovation and an identity of its own.
