Certina invites us to celebrate Valentine's Day with them
Eqotime has taken a look at the new Tudor Ranger, a watch with a solid history, tested in harsh conditions.

We Swedes are after all historically brought up with a Certina for graduation and an Omega for the 50th birthday (think 1960s-1970s). Back then you could see both brands in a neon sign at almost every watch shop – the odd one in the countryside may still have them. Sweden at this time such an important market for Certina – biggest in Europe – that the Swiss boss at the time even learned to speak Swedish.

The persistent ”catchy” slogan Certina Tick Tack was broadcast constantly by Radio Nord 1961 – 1962 so everybody knew it and in certain nostalgic cases it still lives on.
Much has happened since then and the modern model catalogue is meaty. For Valentine's Day two new watches are presented, the DS-6 Lady (where DS stands for Double Security), in steel with PVD in gold colour.

They are feminine models, one entirely in gold colour and one with gold in combination with white ceramic. The cases are 35 mm in diameter and certain sections are nicely satin polished. In the inner ring indices are placed with every other one as an Arabic numeral and every other one as a ”stick”. The date is placed at 6 o'clock and both hands have Super-LumiNova®, a luminous material that makes it easy to see what the time is in the dark. On the two-tone model the bracelet also has white elements such as white links in ceramic.

In the case sits a quartz movement that makes sure the ”heart” beats as it should. A practical lifespan indicator gives an early warning that the battery needs to be replaced. The case is water resistant to 100 metres.
Perhaps the human heart ticks a little extra for those who get such a watch as a gift of love.

The two new DS-6 Lady models with PVD coating in yellow gold will be available for sale at official Certina retailers all over the world from January 2023. The price for the watches is 10,900kr.
