The French watch manufacturer Bell & Ross has with its unique appearance and innovative design managed to stand out from the crowd despite the Swiss dominance on the watch market. Now the manufacturer is investing in Sweden together with Nymans Ur 1851. Bell & Ross is now available at Krons in Stockholm and Nymans Ur 1851 in Västerås. Eqotime has in an exclusive collaboration taken a closer look at the new releases in store at Krons and there are quite a few pleasant models to take part of.

New retailers

Krons in Stockholm and Nymans Ur 1851 in Västerås will now be the only retailers in the country of Bell & Ross. Both stores are part of the well known Nymans Ur 1851. The stores sell watches in the more exclusive segment and taking in Bell & Ross in the range is a step in the direction of a broader selection of watch brands to offer their customers.

In Stockholm you find Krons in the PK building on Hamngatan, and in Västerås you find Nymans Ur 1851 on Vasagatan.

About Bell & Ross

The French watch brand Bell & Ross was founded in 1992 and manufacturing takes place in Switzerland while the company itself is based in Paris. What distinguishes the brand is their connection to aviation. This is best exemplified through the French air force which they began delivering watches to shortly after the start of the brand. A large part of Bell & Ross' watches continued inspired by aviation and some of their best models (according to us at Eqotime) are in their classic square model series whose new releases you find further down in this article.

Bell & Ross also has a series for diver's watches and a collection with vintage inspired watches. The brand's DNA is clear through the series and you quickly recognise a watch from them by the design. All in all Bell & Ross is an interesting manufacturer with pleasant models that stand out from the crowd while at the same time they are not a Swiss watch brand (which just in itself is different).

Some of the editorial team's favourites

We took a closer look at some of our favourite models during a visit to Krons.

We begin with the BR03 collection which has recently been given an update. The cases have been given a somewhat smaller size of 41mm but otherwise they are faithful to their DNA with circle in a square with the characteristic screws in the case.

Two of the favourites from the BR03 collection are the versions Heritage and Military Ceramic. Both models have a thickness of 10,6mm and are water resistant down to 100m. Inside ticks the latest generation movement at Bell & Ross – calibre BR-CAL.302 with 54 hours power reserve.

Another exciting new release in the BR-03 collection is the limited BR 03 Gyrocompass. The watch is limited to 999 examples and is inspired by the cockpit of an aeroplane where the nose of the aeroplane itself acts as the hour hand and the minute hand has a white tip.

Like the two earlier watches in the collection the BR 03 Gyrocompass too has the new updated case size as well as the latest automatic movement.

Last out in the BR 03 collection we picked out two interesting diver's watches – the BR 03-92 in bronze and in black ceramic. These two models are somewhat larger and measure 42mm in diameter and are water resistant down to 300m. Here too the BR-CAL.302 ticks inside.

In the somewhat more urban collection BR 05 quite a lot of things are happening. In the beginning a ”time only” was launched and since then the collection has been filled up with new complications and executions.

The latest addition is the BR-X5 which paves the way for the new generation of watches within this collection. The movement which is the biggest update is manufactured by the well known Kenissi and goes under the name BR-CAL.323. Here we get a COSC certified movement with 70 hours power reserve and a skeletonised rotor that is inspired by the rim of a car tyre.

The watch's case is manufactured in steel, measures 41mm in diameter and is 12,8mm thick. The black dial has a sunray finish and a power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock on the dial as well as date indication at 3 o'clock.

We also took a closer look at the BR 05 Skeleton Golden which has a skeletonised and gold coloured movement inside the steel case which measures 40 x 10,33mm. We also fell a little extra for the light blue BR 05 GMT which offers indication of an extra time zone as the model name gives away.

Last, but not least, BR 05 Chronograph in steel with a green dial. Something for the one who is looking for something with a little more presence on the wrist. The watch measures 42mm in diameter and is 14,25mm thick. The movement BR-CAL.326 has a chronograph with a 30 minute register at 3 o'clock, date between 4 and 5 as well as a seconds hand at 9 o'clock.
