Tangente is the German watch manufacturer's most well-known model. It has been a part of Nomos catalogue since the start at the beginning of the 90s and is under constant development. New for this spring is a new dial colour in the two sizes 35 and 38,5mm where both are driven by their reliable in-house movement. We at Eqotime have taken a closer look at the new Nomos Tangente Neomatik Blue Gold.

The Tangente family has at the time of writing 27 family members – everything from the sporty Tangente Sport with crown guards and a date on a steel bracelet to the restrained Tangente Duo with only hour and minute hands. In between there is a bit of everything, watches with sub-seconds, manual movements and automatic ones.

Common to all of them is the typical Bauhaus design. Clean dials with a mixture of Arabic numerals and baton indexes as well as the long, straight lugs with their sharp angle. Even if you are at the beginning of your watch interest a watch from Nomos Glashütte is something you quickly recognise.

Details of gold

New for this year is thus a new dial colour for the model. Nomos calls this dial blue gold. The dials go through a couple of different steps in the manufacturing where the most important in this case is that the brass base is given a gold plating before it is galvanised and gets its blue colour. The dial really has a lot of life in it and shifts quite a bit in character depending on the light conditions. In the case of the Tangente Blue Gold Nomos has also chosen a sunburst finish on the dials to further reinforce the deep blue tone.

The indexes and text on the dial are white apart from the discreet detail that the word neomatik is printed in gold.

As we mentioned earlier the model comes in two sizes: 35 and 38,5mm (ref. 190 and 145 respectively). The smaller model clocks in at just under 7mm in thickness, more precisely 6,7mm and is 43mm long while the larger one is somewhat thicker with its 6,9mm and is 48,3mm long. These are thus two very thin automatic watches, something Nomos is evidently very good at.

The calibre in both sizes is their DUW3001 (neomatik), an automatic in-house calibre with their patented Swing system and with a power reserve of 43h. Naturally the case backs are fitted with sapphire crystals so that you can take a closer look at the well-finished and beautifully decorated movements.

The watches are delivered on black leather straps in shell cordovan and the smaller model is water resistant down to 30m while the larger one is water resistant down to 50m.
